St Patrick’s Day Craft Ideas

St. Patrick’s Day is one of the most fun holidays to decorate for. Whether you want to decorate your storefront or plan a group activity for kids, pick the perfect St. Patrick’s Day craft for you. There are hundreds of ideas out there, but here are a few to inspire you.

St. Patrick’s Day Decorations

Seasonal decorations make your small business storefront look cheery. Martha Stewart has some really cute idea by growing shamrocks in the window. If you follow the upkeep instructions they could stay alive for a long time and give your business a homey feel for months to come.

She also suggests a green flower arrangement. In her specific design Martha uses “green hydrangeas; behind it is a mix of euphorbias, hydrangeas, and bells of Ireland.” But really you could use any kind of flower. This time of year it will be easy to find carnations dyed green. Just talk to your local florist. They’ll be sure to arrange a beautiful vase to place on your desk.

Create a little something for all of your employees with shamrock boutonnieres. It’s a subtle but cute way to include everyone in this fun holiday.

St. Patrick’s Day DIY Crafts

DIY crafts are fun for all ages and a great way to celebrate any holiday. St. Patrick’s Day is no exception. Your scout troop or the children in your classroom will love making leprechauns, pots of gold, and shamrocks of all shapes and sizes.

Make Shamrock Stamps With Food

Assist the kids in your group with making art with fruits and veggies.

Cut an apple in half and dip one half in green paint. You can make a smaller shamrock by cutting a heart shape into a carrot. Finally, hollow out a green pepper and cut it into rings to make the perfect four-leaf clover! It’ll be the luckiest craft you make. The best part about these crafts is eating the leftovers that didn’t touch paint!

Crafts With Paper Plates

Paper plates serve endless uses when it comes to making crafts. Make a leprechaun face by painting an orange beard around the perimeter of the plate. Draw a face in the middle and use green construction paper to make a hat.

Or, you can make a pot of gold by cutting out half of the inside of the plate. It should look like a basket. Paint the back of the plate black. Cut circles out of yellow construction paper and paste them to the front of the plate. This post from Crafty Morning offers detailed instructions.

Tasty Treats

Has all of this crafting worked up an appetite yet? Try some tasty treats for your classroom, scout troop, or try ‘em for yourself just because they’re yummy! It’s not hard to do. For most of these treats you just need to add some green food dye.

Green Pancakes: Add some whipped cream and Lucky Charms marshmallows to start your St. Patty’s day off right!
Clover Treats: Follow the instructions for making a rice cereal treats but add some green food dye. Use a shamrock shaped cookie cutter to shape it, then garnish it with some festive sprinkles.
